Green cardamom
Characterised by a strong, spicy, slightly piquant and fruity taste, the seeds of the green cardamom are used to flavour many dishes. They are perfect for desserts, especially chocolate. They can also be filtered to flavour tea and coffee or powdered to make a curry
blend.
Cardamom is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Zingiberaceae family. It is native to
Sri Lanka, however it is now grown and exported to other countries, mainly India and Guatemala. Its seeds have a triangular shape and are light green in colour.
