Cloves






Cloves have a pungent and spicy fragrance. Their unmistakable aroma is used for mulled wine, spirits, pickles, sauces and for marinating meat. They combine perfectly with the flavour of apples, pears, figs and aubergines.
Cloves are common in Oriental and African cuisine. Their name is due to their shape, which is similar to that of a clove. They can be found in the “5 Chinese spices” mixture together with Szechuan pepper, star anise, fennel seeds and Cassia cinnamon.
