OUR GREAT ADVENTURE BEGAN
“Industria Droghe e Affini” was founded in San Martino di Lupari, dealing with the grinding and preparation of spices, as well as the processing of aromatic herbs and preservation techniques.

F.I.D.E.S. was founded
Angelo, Lodovico and Giuseppe Smania founded F.I.D.E.S. (Fabbrica Italiana Droghe e Surrogati – The Italian Factory of Spices and Surrogates).

THE “REGINA” MIXTURE
The “Droga Regina” patent was filed, which specified a mixture of spices still used today in the preparation of Italian ham dishes such as sausages, zampone, cotechino, bondiola and mortadella.

Giuseppe Smania
Giuseppe Smania founded the company that bears his name, a company dedicated to keeping up with new market and consumer trends which were changing eating habits in
Italy.

VIRGILIO SMANIA FOUNDED ITALDROGHE
Virgilio Smania, Giuseppe's son, created Italdroghe, a business detached from the rest of the family. At the beginning, production was varied and included surrogates, preparations,
flavours, sweeteners and spices.

THE CORPORATE IMAGE WAS DEFINED
Italdroghe specialised in the natural spices, aromatic herbs, mixtures for food processing and cured meats sector.

A FIRST BIG STEP
In order to meet the demand for more storage and production space, the company moved its headquarters to its current location.

2005
A SECOND EXPANSION
The second plant was built and new production machinery was introduced, including the first multi-head packaging machine.

A NEW IMAGE IS LAUNCHED
The company embarked on a complete renewal process. New packaging and production equipment were introduced, along with a new logo and new packaging solutions, a testament to our constant effort to adapt to consumers' demands.
